Welcome to Handguns!

Handguns
. . .
Our Handgun section promotes the sport of target handgun shooting in the metro area. We
stress the safe use of firearms and offer handgun safety
courses and range officer courses.All
calibers of handgun (up to 44 magnums) are permitted - both
revolvers, and semi-automatics.
|
Our target
shooting is the Bullseye discipline only, and is done under
the direction of qualified range officers. All handgun owners must be in possession of a
Possession & Acquisition License (PAL) for Restricted Firearms. New
handgun shooters are required by law to complete an 8-hour Handgun Safety Course
and pass both a written and hands-on test. After satisfactorily completing a
probationary period where club firearms are used under close supervision, new
members are sponsored for an ATT (Authorization to Transport). Only when
in possession of this ATT, can a new shooter transport his/her own handgun to
the range.
Toronto Sportsmen's Association has a full time
office administrator who assists members in all license applications and
renewals.
Our Range Officers (RO's) and senior
experienced shooters, are always willing to advise and assist new shooters.
Members may participate on our teams in Metro
Pistol League matches. Also available to you is the opportunity to shoot in
provincial, regional, and national matches promoted through Canadian Shooting
Sports Association, and the Shooting Federation of Canada. As members advance
their skills, crests are available to award proficiency in marksmanship. Anyone
interested in joining should contact our office to arrange an appointment to
view our facilities.
