Firearms Safety!
Non-Restricted:
In accordance with Federal Regulations, you must have a Possession
and Acquisition License (PAL) to own, purchase, acquire, or
borrow non-restricted firearms, rifles, shotguns, etc.
To apply for this license you need to pass the
Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) test. To prepare for
this test and responsible gun ownership, we offer the Canadian
Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) which is mandatory for
individuals between the ages of 12 to 18 years old, and
individuals who have been prohibited by court order from the
possession of firearms. We recommend you take this course if you
are not familiar with firearms and the social responsibilities of
the Firearms Owner and User.
Courses are 12 hours in duration, spread over 2
days. A test is held after completion of the course and is
included in the price. Individuals who wish to challenge the test
without taking the course, can do so by appointment. For course
and test dates, please contact the office.
Restricted:
In addition, those who wish to own, purchase, acquire, or borrow
restricted firearms (handguns), must pass the Canadian
Restricted Firearms Safety Course or test (CRFSC) in order
to have their PAL endorsed to this effect.
To this extent, we offer this course and
recommend it to those unfamiliar with handguns. The CFSC test is a
prerequisite for the CRFSC.
The course is 12 hours in duration, spread over
2 days. The test is held at the end of the course.
Individuals who wish to challenge the test without taking the
course can do so by appointment. We have qualified Instructors to
teach and examine these courses.
